PH Embassy in Muscat Celebrates 124th Philippine Independence Day

MUSCAT 27 June 2022 — As the Sultanate of Oman started to lift all precautionary measures and social gatherings, the Philippine Embassy in Muscat organized two activities to commemorate the 124th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence with the theme, “Pagsuong sa Hamon ng Panibagong Bukas”.
On 12 June 2022, Philippine Embassy personnel and their dependents, led by Philippine Ambassador to Oman Imelda M. Panolong, held a flag raising ceremony on Embassy grounds. The reading of the Independence Day messages of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr., Secretary for Labor and Employment Silvestre Bello III, and OWWA Administrator Hans Leo J. Cacdac, was done in the Sentro Rizal Hall. Filipino breakfast buffet was served and followed by Filipino games, bugtungan at pilipit-dila.
On 17 June 2022, the Embassy celebrated the Philippine Independence Day with the Filipino community through a National Day Reception at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. Among the attendees of the reception were the 2021 Bagong Bayani Awardees, Filipino community leaders, Filipino community members working with Oman government institutions, Philippine School Oman (PSO) officials, professors and educators from various universities in Oman, entrepreneurs, medical workers, and journalists.
The PSO’s choir, KORO PSiano, sang the Philippine National Anthem and an intermission number, while the finalists of Kabayan’s Got Talent and Pinoy Idol sa Oman showcased cultural performances. END
