PH Embassy in Riyadh Hosts Filipino Community Night in Celebration of the 124th Anniversary of Independence Day

RIYADH 27 June 2022 — After two years of restrictive health protocols caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh has once again hosted the Filipino Community (FilCom) Night as part of the Embassy's celebration of the 124th Araw ng Kasarinlan (Anniversary of Philippine Independence) with the theme "Buhay OFW (Life of an OFW)", at the newly inaugurated Multi-purpose Building of the Embassy on 10 June 2022.

Philippine Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Adnan V. Alonto approved the hosting of the event to recognize various FilCom organizations for their invaluable support to the Embassy, and their efforts to promote unity and harmony among Filipinos in Saudi Arabia.

The FilCom Night opened with an Art Exhibit called “Malayang Obra” at the Philippine Embassy Chancery showcasing the talents of Saudi-based Filipino artists Hagod Filipino and Kulay Pinay.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Alonto cited the significance of the Multi-purpose Building for Filipinos in the Kingdom.

The night’s highlight was a cultural presentation organized by FESSCOR (Filipino Expatriates Sports & Socio-Cultural Organization) Talent Center and Performing Arts Group, in cooperation with Sessionistas, Fuzionistas, and Kabayan Idol S7, with the special participation of Dance Connextion, Rebels, Mr. Filipinas CD production and Top MMPKSA Male & Female.

The event concluded with a tribute to Ambassador Alonto, who will be ending his tour of duty this month. The Embassy presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the Ambassador for his dedicated service to Filipinos in the Kingdom. END
