Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu  Celebrate 124 Years Of Philippine Independence

HONOLULU, 22 June 2022 -   Hundreds of Filipino community leaders and supporters gathered at the Hilton Hawaiian Village for a grand gala on 18 June 2022  in celebration of the 124th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine Independence.

Organized by the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu and the Philippine Celebrations Coordinating Committee (PCCCH), the event featured an exhibit of Philippine textiles as well as performances by the state’s leading Filipino artists. Philippine Airlines also contributed to the festivities with the raffle of a round-trip airline ticket to Manila.

In attendance were Hawaii Governor David Ige and Madam Dawn Amano-Ige, state and city officials, businesspersons, members of the academe, NGOs and think tanks.

In his remarks, Consul General Emil Fernandez enumerated the tremendous strides that had been achieved in Philippine-US ties  and the immense contribution that Filipinos have played in the Aloha State. He also urged the continued support of the diaspora, as the country embarks on a new chapter with the assumption of the administration of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on  June 30.
