Filipinos in the Czech Republic Celebrate 124^th Anniversary of PH Independence

PRAGUE, 27 June 2022 – The Filipino community in the Czech Republic celebrated the 124^th anniversary of the proclamation of independence of the Republic of the Philippines at the Vienna House Diplomat Prague on 26 June 2022.

As suggested in its theme “Pasasalamat: Musika at Sayawan sa Pagdiriwang ng Kasarinlan”, the celebration brought members of the community to sing and dance to Filipino pop and rock music after national day messages of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Foreign Affairs SecretaryTeodoro L. Locsin Jr., and Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello III were read.

The event was also held in conjunction with the community’s farewell reception for Philippine Ambassador to the Czech Republic Ombra T. Jainal who recently completed his tour of duty in the Czech Republic.

Select representatives of the Filipino community conveyed their gratitude and best wishes for the Ambassador who served in the Czech Republic for almost four years. Notably, the community recalled, among others, the leadership of the Ambassador in enabling a responsive Embassy that is attuned to the needs and requirements of the Filipinos and in bringing to the fore political and economic issues that are of interest to both Asia and Europe.
