DFA Consular Office Lucena Commemorates 125th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence and Nationhood

13 June 2023 — The DFA Consular Office Lucena, in commemoration of the 125th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence and Nationhood, held a flag-raising ceremony inside its premises. The theme for this year’s Independence Day is “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.” (Freedom. Future. History).

The ceremony started with the DFA prayer, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, the reciting of the Panunumpa ng Katapatan sa Watawat ng Pilipinas and the reading of the Independence Day Message of the Secretary for Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo.

SFA Manalo emphasized in his message that the theme of Kalayaan 2023 “reminds us of how the hard-fought freedom by our forebears has not only shaped our nation’s history but also continues to shape its future. The Department of Foreign Affairs pays tribute to our rich and proud history by drawing wisdom from its lessons, guiding our steadfast commitment to an independent foreign policy that navigates the complexities of our time.”.  END
