BRASILIA 15 June 2023  - The Philippine Embassy in Brasilia celebrated the 125th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence with the Filipino Community on 11 June 2023.

The program started with the singing of the national anthem followed by the reading of Independence Day messages of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Secretary for Foreign Affairs Enrique Manalo. Philippine Ambassador to Brazil Joseph Gerard B. Angeles also delivered his message to the Filipino community. 

There were also dance and martial arts performance. The Teatro Cristã dos Membros da Igreja de Deus sede do Brasil based in Florianapolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil performed the Bulaklakan Folk Dance. Brasilia-based Filipino Martial Arts master Herbert Inocalla, together with his students at the Arnis Kali Maharlika, demonstrated basic self-defense skills using arnis and knife. 

Around 100 guests attended the celebration and enjoyed Filipino games and food prepared by Embassy personnel. END
