Filipino Soprano Duo “The Nightingales” Serenades Moroccan Media

RABAT 20 June 2023 – As part of celebrating the 125th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence, the Philippine Embassy in Morroco organized a coffee and tea reception for the members of the Moroccan media held on 13 June 2023 at the Ambassador’s residence.

During the reception, the local media were serenaded by The Nightingales, a Filipino soprano duo, with a short repertoire of Philippine folk songs, a French song entitled Hymne a l’Amour, and Seasons of Love from the broadway musical Rent. 

The Nightingales combines the beautiful voices of Bernadette Mamauag and Katrina Marie Saga, enthralling various audiences in the country and in the world through their unique style of performing a wide-range repertoire of opera arias, broadway classics, folksongs and even popular standards, all in a unique style of singing - bel canto or beautiful voice. 

After the performance, the members of The Nightingales and Philippine Ambassador to Morocco Leslie J. Baja were interviewed by the media to help promote Philippine music and talent, as well as cultural understanding, awareness, and tolerance.

Present during the event are representatives from various media outlets, namely, Le Matin, Morocco World News, Umma Press, Société Nationale de Radiodiffusion et de Télévision, Libération, Al Oula TV, Telquel, and Le Nouveau Monde Diplomatique.  END.
