PH Consulate General in Manado Celebrates 125th Anniversary of Philippine Independence

MANADO 21 June 2023 – The Philippine Consulate General in Manado led by Consul General Lolita B. Capco hosted the 125th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence diplomatic reception on 12 June 2023 at Four Points Hotel by Sheraton in Manado. The gala event was attended by more than 150 prominent members of the Filipino community, senior officials of Indonesian national and local government agencies and business leaders. 

The diplomatic reception commenced with the video message from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., which elicited enthusiastic response from the attendees. 

Consul General Capco then delivered her remarks which highlighted the enduring legacy of the courage and valor displayed by the forefathers of the country in regaining independence and preserving the democratic way of life. She also conveyed the commitment of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo, and the Filipino people toward the advancement and prosperity of the nation. She emphasized the Philippines' dedication to fostering robust partnerships with nations worldwide as a free and democratic country. 

The evening’s Guest of Honor was Mr. Henry Kaitjili, Head of the Regional Tourism Office of North Sulawesi and representing the Governor of North Sulawesi, conveyed the warm felicitations of the Government and people of North Sulawesi and their continuing support on efforts to further strengthen Philippine-Indonesia relations, particularly, relations between North Sulawesi and Mindanao. Mr. Kaitjili expressed the shared interest among stakeholders in establishing air connectivity between Manado and key Philippine cities, such as Davao, Cebu, and Manila. 

The celebration of the 125th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence was a momentous occasion filled with patriotic pride and camaraderie among Filipinos and Indonesians and the shared commitment to fostering stronger ties between the Philippines and Indonesia. END
