Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen Observes Kalayaan 2024

XIAMEN 13 June 2024 – Donning their traditional Filipiniana attire, Philippine Consulate General personnel, led by Consul General Maria Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena, held a simple but austere flag-raising ceremony on 12 June 2024 at the PCG Grounds at No. 4 Consulate Road, Siming District, Xiamen to commemorate the 126th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine independence.
Consulate General officers and staff sang the “Lupang Hinirang” with fervor, recited the “Panunumpa sa Watawat”, and listened to the Kalayaan 2024 Messages of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Secretary of Foreign Affairs Enrique Manalo as they extolled this year’s theme of “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan” (freedom, future, history).
The post had earlier commemorated the anniversary of Philippine Independence at the Inauguration of the New Chancery last 24 May 2024 and will do so again at the “Misa sa Konsulado” which will be held on 23 June 2024. END
