Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver Joins the Celebration of Filipino Heritage and Culture in Victoria, British Columbia

VICTORIA 18 June 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver, represented by Consul Ericka Anna Abad, joined the “Mabuhay! Celebrating Philippine Culture” event held on 08 June 2024 at the Centennial Square in Victoria, British Columbia (BC).
The Consulate General and members of the Canadian government, which include Member of Parliament (MP) Randall Garrison, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Langford Ravi Palmar and Acting Mayor of Victoria Matt Dale, lent their support to the two-day annual event organized by the Bayanihan Cultural and Housing Society (BCHS). The Mabuhay event, which showcases Philippine art, history, culture and cuisine, serves as the pinnacle event of the celebration of the Filipino Heritage Month in Victoria, BC.
In her remarks, Consul Abad highlighted the efforts of the Filipino-Canadians in Victoria to raise awareness on two momentous occasions being celebrated this year – the 126th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence and the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Canada – through the Mabuhay event. She also thanked the BCHS and its affiliate organizations for assisting the Philippine government in its Bagong Pilipinas campaign which encourages all Filipinos to participate in nation building to ensure a more prosperous future for all Filipinos.
