PH Embassy in Athens Commemorates the 126th Anniversary of Proclamation of Philippine Independence
ATHENS 18 June 2024 – The Philippine Embassy commemorated the 126th Anniversary of Proclamation of Philippine independence with the theme, “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan”, in a flag raising ceremony led by Ambassador Giovanni E. Palec at the official residence.
First Secretary and Consul Judy Barbara G. Robianes welcomed attendees to the ceremony, the personnel of the Embassy and the Migrants Workers Office (MWO)-Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) headed by Labor Attaché Cynthia Cruz and Welfare Officer Marivic Mondina, and their families. Officials from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) who attended the Posidonia 2024 in Greece joined the event. They were MARINA Administrator Ms. Sonia Malaluan and MARINA Director of Regulation Service Mr. Ramon Hernandez, DMW Assistant Secretary for Sea-based OFW Concerns, Atty. Jerome T. Pampolina, Assistant Secretary for Policy and International Cooperation, Mario Perpetuo Socorro T. Zinampan, OIC-Head, Maritime Training and Assessment Division of National Maritime Polytechnic, Captain Chito A. Go.
The program included the singing of the National Anthem, the recitation of “Panunumpa Sa Watawat” and playing of video messages of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., Secretary of Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo, Jr. and OWWA Administrator Arnaldo Arevalo ‘Arnell’ Ignacio. DMW Assistant Secretary for Policy and International Cooperation Mario Perpetuo Socorro T. Zinampan read the message of Secretary of Migrant Workers Hans Leo Cacdac.
