HONOLULU 19 June 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu conducted a flag raising ceremony at the grounds of the Consulate to mark the 126th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence. Officers and staff of the Consulate were joined by members of the Knights of Rizal Hawaii, Aloha and Maysa Ohana chapters.
During the ceremony, Philippine Consul General to Honolulu Emil Fernandez also read the national day message of Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., wherein he encouraged all Filipinos “to stand united…and uphold with pride the hard-earned liberty bequeathed to us by our forebears.” Following the ceremony, members of the Knights of Rizal performed a medley of patriotic Filipino songs and partook of refreshments at the Consulate’s Sentro Rizal.
