Philippine Consul General in Honolulu Graces Independence Day Celebration in East Hawaii

HILO 19 June 2024 - Filipinos in the island of Hawaii, also known as the Big Island, commemorated the Philippines’ national day this year with a gala at the Naniloa Hotel in Hilo on 08 June 2024. The event witnessed remarks from the current president of the Fil-Am Community of East Hawaii, Mr. Christian Atalig, Hawaii County Mayor Mitch Roth and Consul General Emil Fernandez, who spoke of the Consulate’s priority programs and the Philippine government’s Bagong Pilipinas campaign. The festivities also included a raffle draw, the crowning of Miss Fil-Am of East Hawaii, as well as cultural performances from several of the association’s members. Also gracing the event were State Representative Greggor Ilagan and Hawaii County Councilmember Jenn Kagiwada. END
