Pinoys' Biggest Party Held at Copenhagen Town Hall Square
2nd Philippine Cultural Day at Copenhagen Town Hall Square
COPENHAGEN 20 June 2024 – Thousands attended the Second Philippine Cultural Day on 15 June 2024 at the Copenhagen Town Hall Square. Guests enjoyed over 20 cultural performances, dozens of unique Filipino food items from 10 food stalls, Pinoy games, and Don Papa rum tasting. The Department of Tourism-London and PH1 World Developers Inc. also shared main destination points in the Philippines.
Cultural performances included Filipino folk dances such as Silong sa Ganding (from Maguindanao), Pandanggo sa Ilaw, Tinikling, Subli, La Jota Cagayana, Salakot, and Cariñosa. Also featured was Pattong, an indigenous dance from the Cordilleras. Arnis exhibitions for children and adults also amazed the audiences.
During the event, the undersigned highlighted this year’s Independence Day theme of “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan,” and how it related to the lives of overseas Filipinos in Denmark. The undersigned also encouraged the community to work together to achieve the Bagong Pilipinas program of the PH Government—underscoring unity, involvement, and the bayanihan culture as the moving spirit for the full realization of a progressive Philippines and a united Filipino people.
This annual event is a joint project of the Philippine Embassy and Copenhagen-based Filipino organization Kalahi as part of the global commemoration of the proclamation of Philippine Independence. END.
