RABAT 20 June 2024  -  The Philippine Embassy in Rabat marked the 126th anniversary of proclamation of Philippine independence on 12 June 2024 with a flag raising ceremony attended by all Embassy personnel and their dependents.

During the flag ceremony, representatives of the Embassy read messages from President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., Secretary for Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo, and Secretary of Migrant Workers Hans Leo Cacdac addressed the Filipino community on this occasion.

The event was also graced by Representative Maria Rachel J. Arenas (3rd District, Pangasinan) and Ms. Jonalyn L. Villasante (Committee Secretary, House CFA), who were in the country as the Philippines’ representatives to the Paris Peace Forum held in Ben Guerir, Morocco.

In keeping with this year’s theme of “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan,” and the Department’s commitment to promote gender mainstreaming, the Embassy also held a film viewing of the 2017 documentary entitled “Kababaihan ng Rebolusyon” produced by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), which highlighted the significant role women played in gaining Philippine independence and the importance of inclusion of their stories in Philippine history.
