PH Embassy in Jakarta, PH Mission to Asean Co-Host Diplomatic Reception to Commemorate the 126th Anniversary of Philippine Independence and 75th Anniversary of Philippines-Indonesia Diplomatic Relations
JAKARTA 21 June 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Jakarta, led by Ambassador Gina A. Jamoralin, and the Philippine Mission to ASEAN led by Permanent Representative Hjaceelyn M. Quintana, successfully co-hosted a diplomatic reception at the St. Regis Jakarta on 12 June 2024 to commemorate the 126th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence.
The event was also an occasion to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Indonesia.

Minister Siti Nurbaya of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry served as the Guest of Honor. Other key attendees were DPR Putu Supadma Rudana (Vice Chairperson of the House Committee on Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation), Tengku Malik Mahmud Al-Haythar (Wali Nanggroe Aceh), Gen. Hotmangaradja Pandjaitan, Special Assistant to President-elect and Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, M Pradana Indraputra (Senior Advisor to Minister Bahlil Lahadalia of the Ministry of Investment), Hon. Andy Yentriyani (Chairperson, National Commission on Violence Against Women), H.E. Nararya S. Soeprapto (Deputy Secretary General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs), and H.E. Dato’ Astanah Abdul Aziz (Deputy Secretary-General for ASEAN Political-Security Community). The event was also attended by Heads of Missions, other members of the diplomatic corps in Jakarta, representatives from the Indonesian government agencies, representatives of the private sector, as well as selected members of the Filipino Community.

In her remarks, Ambassador Jamoralin highlighted the significance of the occasion through this year’s theme “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan” (Freedom. Future. History.): “These three words run deep into the heart of the Filipino nation. Kalayaan (freedom) was our North Star as our forefathers fought for independence to forge a Philippine nation in 1898, and the birth of Asia’s first Republic. Kinabukasan (future) is the fruit of these freedoms not only for the present generation but future generations of Filipinos. The story of these struggles form part of our Kasaysayan (history),” Ambassador Jamoralin said.
“We are at the cusp of turning a page in this dynamic and colorful story of a friendship between two great maritime nations bound together not just by the seas that nourish their respective peoples, but also by their shared heritage and common aspirations,” Ambassador Jamoralin added in describing the diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Indonesia as they celebrate their 75th anniversary.
She also announced the Philippines’ candidature for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the term 2027-2028 at elections to be held during the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly in 2026.
The reception featured iconic Filipino dishes prepared by Filipino Chef Oscar Perez (Executive Chef of the St. Regis Hotel) that highlighted the rich flavors of Filipino cuisine, notably shrimp “okoy” fritters, kinilaw na tuna, ensaladang kangkong, chicken adobo, kare kare, afritadang manok, chicken inasal, pancit canton bistek tagalog and pork lechon belly. PT Delta, Indonesian distributor of San Miguel Beer, provided drinks for the guests to enjoy.
The Embassy extended its appreciation to the following who supported the event: Department of Tourism (DOT), National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Embassy’s Offices of Defense and Armed Forces Attaché (ODAFA), Police Attaché (OPA) and Foreign Liaison (FLO), the Philippine Permanent Mission to ASEAN (Jakarta PM), Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, ISA Art Gallery, PT Delta Djakarta, PT Liwayway, PT Universal Robina, Millennium Hotel Jakarta, and the Filipino Community in Indonesia.

The Embassy also sent each guest some goodie bags from Philippine companies in Indonesia, PT Liwayway (Oishi products) and PT Universal Rubina Corporation (URC) Indonesia (Jack n Jill products), as well as goody bag containing dried mangoes and souvenir items from the Department of Tourism (DOT).
