Director General Fabrian mentioned that this year marks the 75th anniversary of Philippine-Indonesia bilateral relations, where collaborations may be made. He recalled that there is a Jose Rizal Monument in Bitung and a Sam Ratulangi Monument in Davao City. He also mentioned the prospect of connectivity between the two regions, as there was once air connectivity with the Davao-Manado flights, but the recent COVID-19 pandemic shut down these flights. The undersigned added that the air connectivity should not be focused on tourism, but rather, on business-to-business and people-to-people engagements.
Consul General Dingal then paid a courtesy call on Hon. Hendra Yusran Siry, Acting Adviser to the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. Consul General Dingal conveyed her appreciation to Hon. Siry for the courtesy call, given that Philippines and Indonesia share common maritime borders and that there are interests on both sides. She added that collaboration with the Ministry may be through CTI-CFF or even between the Consulate and the Ministry of Fisheries.

During the meeting, the Consul General requested for the agency’s cooperation and collaboration regarding the process of updating the database of Filipinos here in Indonesia. Hence there is a need for information and statistics that may be very useful in the forthcoming Joint Commission meeting which will be held in July.
