PH Embassy in Rome Commemorates 126th PH Independence Day

ROME 25 June 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Rome, led by Philippine Ambassador Neal Imperial, held a flag-raising ceremony at the Embassy grounds with representatives of selected Filipino organizations in Rome and key partners of the Embassy.
In his remarks, Ambassador Imperial echoed Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Independence Day message to all Filipinos, that it is the duty of each Filipino, as heirs to the freedom that we enjoy today, to protect that freedom and ensure that the country never gives in to any threat of intimidation, conquest and oppression. The Ambassador also acknowledged the contributions of overseas Filipinos (OFs) that serve as ambassadors of goodwill of the Philippines to Italy and Europe.
The Independence Day messages of President Marcos, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo, and Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac were read by Ambassador Imperial, Deputy Chief of Mission Nina Cainglet, and Assistant Labor Attaché and Officer-In-Charge Rosemarie Luntao, respectively.
President Marcos, in his Independence Day message, challenged all Filipinos, whom he called the face of the new Philippines (Mukha ng Bagong Pilipinas), to be heroes of our modern age. He encouraged Filipinos to use wisdom and diligence in every task, and most importantly, to be humble, patriotic and honorable at all times, as the country paves the way for a future full of hope and opportunity to a new Philippines that the Filipinos have long dreamed of.
During the event, the Embassy’s Finance Officer, Ms. Jeany Macadangdang, sang Tagumpay Nating Lahat and Piliin mo ang Pilipinas. Select students from the Philippine International School of Italy (IPSI) also entertained the crowd by performing Cariñosa and Subli, two of the most popular Filipino Folk dances. Also in attendance was Filipino Fashion Icon, Renee Salud, along with Director Cata Figueroa and the models who were visiting for a fashion show in Rome. Also present were the top leadership of the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC), led by their President, Mr. Roberto B. Tan. Filipino breakfast was served to the guests. END
