MEXICO 28 June 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Mexico hosted an event for the Filipino community dubbed “KARAOKE para sa Kalayaan: Walang husgahan” (KARAOKE for Freedom: No judgment) in celebration of the 126th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine Independence on 23 June 2024.

The event began with an opening prayer, followed by the singing of the Philippine national anthem. Video messages from President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., and Secretary Enrique A. Manalo of the Department of Foreign Affairs, were then aired.

Our Filipino compatriots, along with some Mexican guests, enjoyed a modest afternoon snack consisting of cookies, pancit bihon (rice noodles), club sandwiches, veggie rolls, and refreshments. Filipino attendees also contributed pastries and traditional snacks such as kutsinta.

The Embassy partnered with Pickup Coffee to introduce it to our fellow Filipinos. Pickup Coffee, founded by a Filipino entrepreneur, initially launched in the Philippines before expanding to Mexico, where it now operates multiple branches across various locations.

The program began with performances of Original Pinoy Music songs in both English and Filipino, featuring solo, duet, and trio performances. Due to the enthusiastic participation of our compatriots despite the pouring rain, the event extended beyond the scheduled time. END
