PH Culture Showcased at 126th PH National Day, 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between PH-Pakistan Reception in Karachi

ISLAMABAD 01 July 2024 – Philippine Honorary Consul General in Karachi Dr. Muhammad Imran Yousuf hosted a Cultural Show and Reception at the Arts Council Karachi, Pakistan on 23 June 2024. Consul General Yousuf organized the activity with the help of the Filipino Community in Karachi who also performed a line-up of Philippine folk and indigenous dances and OPM songs.  

President of Arts Council Ahmed Shah was the Chief Guest. During his speech, President Shah welcomed the proposed renewal of cultural collaboration between Philippines and Pakistan. Minister of Culture Sindh Zulfikar Shah was also present as guest. 

To mark the occasion, the cake cutting ceremony was led by Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan Maria Agnes M. Cervantes and was joined by the Consul General of the UAE in Karachi Mr. Bakhit Al Rumiti, Consul General of Turkey Mr. Jamal Sango, Consul General of Malaysia Mr. Harmin Hardinata Ahmed, Consul General of Japan Mr. Hattori Masaru, and the Philippine Honorary Consul General. 

Filipinos in Karachi performed various Philippine folk dances such as bulaklakan, Itik Itik At Alitaptap, Salakot, Piliiin ang Pilipinas, Pangdanggo sa Ilaw, Tinikling, Una Kaya, and Kinang ng Pilipinas and a song number of Bayan Ko. The Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group performed their last show of Philippine indigenous and folk dances and were appreciated the most during their performance of the Pindulas, a Yakan muslim dance. 

The event was attended by 200 businessmen, political and provincial government officials, and an additional 300 Filipinos from Karachi. END
