PH Honorary Consul in Lahore, Pakistan Hosts Cultural Show, Reception for 126th PH Independence Day Celebration, 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Philippines-Pakistan

ISLAMABAD 01 July 2024 – The Philippine Honorary Consulate in Lahore, led by Consul Fahdel Sheikh, hosted a reception and cultural show at the Ali Institute of Education Auditorium on 21 June 2024 in celebration of the 126th Philippine national day and the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Philippines and Pakistan.
The Chief Guest of the event was 2021 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee Mr. Muhammad Amjad Saqib. In his message, he emphasized Pakistan and Philippines’ common value of kindness and that Pakistan has a lot to learn from the Philippines in using kindness to establish itself as a big player and model in the international community. Ambassador Maria Agnes M. Cervantes, in her remarks, thanked the host Consul Sheikh, the Chief Guest Mr. Saqib, all other business contacts in the Punjab Province and the Filipino Community present in the reception and called on the enhanced friendship between the two countries for the benefit of both Pakistanis and Filipinos.
The reception also served as a cultural showcase for both Pakistan and Philippines. Filipinos in Lahore sang the Philippine National Anthem, and Philippine nationalistic song Dakilang Lahi. Filipino-Pakistani children sang Its More Fun in the Philippines. A Pakistani singer also performed a Pakistani song during the event. The Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group presented a repertoire of Filipino Indigenous and Folk Dances which was well-received by the audience composed of 300 people.
Guests include various Punjab Government Officials, Chambers of Commerce Officers, Filipinos and Filipino Madrasa in Lahore. END
