PHL Embassy, Migrant Workers Office, and Filipino Writers’ Circle in Bahrain Conduct On-The-Spot Essay Writing Contest with Theme, Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan

MANAMA 10 July 10, 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, in collaboration with its Migrant Workers Office and the community group, Filipino Writers’ Circle, conducted an on-the-spot Essay Writing Contest, with the theme, “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan”, at the Embassy’s Sentro Rizal on 05 July 2024. This activity is part of the Embassy’s and the Filipino community’s celebration of the 126th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence. 

The contest had seven participants. Ms. Maria Carmella Sollido, a nurse, won first place, while Ms. Lornalyn Penuliar, a receptionist at a medical center won second place, and Ms. Melinda Nomananap, a teacher at the Philippine School Bahrain, got third place.  All the winners received plaques and cash prizes courtesy of the Filipino Writers’ Circle.

The entries were judged by OWWA Welfare Officer Amelito Adel, Pinay Ikaw Na President Dinah Sta. Ana, and Filipino-American Association Vice President Joselito Sarmiento.

Ambassador Louis commended the Filipino Writers’ Circle for collaborating with the Embassy on the contest and also thanked the group and all the contestants for contributing to a meaningful celebration of the 126th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence in Bahrain. END
