PH Embassy Joins Filipino Community-led Independence Day events in Bern, Geneva, and Herisau
Members of the Filipino Community from Geneva and Vaud attended the “Isang Lahi, Isang Musika,” organized by Ugnayan Bayan, 23-member Filipino Community Association based in Geneva.
BERNE 26 July 2024 – The Philippine Embassy attended back-to-back Philippine Independence Day events organized by Filipino Community Organizations in Switzerland on 15 June 2024.
In the morning, the Embassy, represented by Vice Consul Rowell Casaclang and Cultural Officer Ma. Niña Antonette Barranta, participated in the “Culture, Tourism, and Cuisine,” held at the Kirchgemeindehaus Bümpliz in Berne. In a pre-recorded video message, Ambassador Bernard Faustino M. Dy congratulated the European Network of Filipinos in Diaspora-Switzerland or ENFiD-Swiss, led by Marcelina Manalo-Ermert, on the successful organization of the whole-day event. He also sent best wishes to members of the Filipino Community who arrived from the cantons of Bern, Ticino, and Valais.
In the afternoon, the Embassy, represented by Vice Consul Casaclang, Cultural Officer Barranta, and Finance Officer Bernardita Ladrica, joined the Filipino Community of the cantons of Geneva and Vaud for their event, “Isang Lahi, Isang Musika,” held at the Salle Communale des Asters in Geneva. The event was organized by Ugnayan Bayan, a Filipino Community Association led by Gerry de Rama. Officials and staff of the Philippine Permanent Mission and Consulate General in Geneva and the Department of Migrant Workers were also present.
On 29 June 2024, the Embassy, led by Ambassador Bernard Faustino M. Dy, attended the “Pinoy Summer Fiesta in Herisau” at the Chälblihalle in Herisau, canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden. The event was organized by the Filipino Community in Herisau led by Marybeth Naef. Several Filipino concessionaires set up stalls selling Filipino food products.
Ambassador Dy congratulated the organizers on successfully putting together the first-ever Filipino community-led event in the area and thanked the participating concessionaires and attendees, including members of the Filipino Community in St. Gallen and the Principality of Liechtenstein, for their support.
