Philippine Embassy Joins Independence Day Celebrations in Stord, Norway

OSLO 12 August 2024 – Around 700 Filipinos and Filipino-Norwegians attended the Stord Barrio Fiesta Filipino 2024 held on 06 July 2024 at the Stord Indrettpark, Vikahaugane, Stord, the ninth and last event to celebrate the 126th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence.
Special guests during the event were Stord Vice Mayor Oyvind Kyvik and Norwegian Coast Guard Deputy Commandant, Captain Endre Barane.
In his remarks, Ambassador Enrico T. Fos drew historical parallelism between the Philippine and Norwegian national days and strong ties between the two nations. He also praised the virtues of patriotism, hard work, competence and excellence of Filipinos and the Filipino community.
With Filnor Sunnhordland as the lead organizer, the Stord Barrio Fiesta Filipino 2024 was organized by the Filipino community with the Philippine Embassy.
As with all Independence Day celebrations all over the world, the Stord Barrio Fiesta Filipino 2024 featured cultural dances and songs, performances by Filipino bands, and lots of Filipino food. END
