Philippine Embassy Celebrates Philippine Independence with Filipino Communities in Colombia and Ecuador

BOGOTA 17 June 2025 — The Philippine Embassy in Bogota held flag-raising events with the Filipino communities in Colombia and Ecuador to commemorate the 127th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence.
It was the first time that formal Philippine Independence Day celebrations were held in Colombia and Ecuador since the Philippine government officially opened its diplomatic mission in Bogota on 16 August 2024.
The flag raising events in the cities of Bogotá and Medellin, Colombia were held on 12 June and 1 June 2025 respectively. In Cuenca, Ecuador the flag raising event was held on 7 June 2025.
“This year’s celebration of Philippine independence will be truly memorable for all of us as it is the first time that we are doing it,” said Ambassador Adrian Bernie Candolada in his message to the Filipino community.
Alongside the flag raising events, the Embassy also provided consular services to participating Filipinos both in Medellin and Cuenca.
A number of Filipinos in Venezuela organized their own version of the National Day celebration by getting together and displaying the Philippine flag. END
