Philippines, Papua New Guinea Unveil Joint Commemorative Logo for 50 Years of Diplomatic Relations

PORT MORESBY 19 June 2025 — A significant highlight of the 127th Philippine independence day celebration in Port Moresby was the official unveiling of the joint commemorative logo marking the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of the Philippines and Papua New Guinea on 12 June 2025. Philippine Embassy in Port Moresby Consul Jomar T. Sadie presented the logo, elaborating on its profound symbolism that encapsulates the enduring bond and shared aspirations of the two Pacific nations. The logo prominently features the number "50," with one half incorporating elements of Filipino heritage—the flag's colors, sun, and stars, crowned by the majestic Philippine Eagle—and the other half paying homage to Papua New Guinea with its flag's hues, the Raggiana Bird of Paradise, and the Southern Cross constellation.

Consul Sadie emphasized that the blue waves at the logo's base represent the Pacific Ocean, not as a barrier, but as a dynamic bridge that has facilitated centuries of journeys, trade, and cultural exchanges. The overarching theme, "Soaring High Together," visually reinforced by both the Philippine Eagle and the Bird of Paradise flying above the Pacific, powerfully conveys the shared message of mutual upliftment, progress, and collective ambitions for future collaboration. 

In his remarks, Ambassador Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian expressed hope that this commemorative gesture would inspire the Philippines and PNG to expand the relationship from strength to strength. This unveiling signifies a renewed commitment to deepening cooperation and celebrating future milestones in the strong diplomatic ties between the Philippines and Papua New Guinea. END
