PH Embassy Celebrates 127th Anniversary of Philippine Independence with Filipino Community in Gothenburg

STOCKHOLM 20 June 2025 — Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General Gines Jaime Ricardo D. Gallaga joined the celebrations in Gothenburg  in commemoration of the 127th anniversary of Philippine independence on 14 June 2025.

The event was organized by members of the  Filipino community in Gothenburg led by Ms. Kay Lajom Alvefelt, owner of Merkado PH, following the success of last year’s inaugural celebration. The celebration started with a holy mass officiated by Father Rono Toledo, CP. Consul General Gallaga thereafter read the message of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. Mr. David Kristensson, Philippine Honorary Consul in Gothenburg also graced the occasion.

Merkado PH is a Filipino specialty store established in February 2024, with the vision of bringing the taste and spirit of the Philippines to Sweden. END
