The Philippine Madrigal Singers Dazzle Paris in Celebratory Concert Honoring Kalayaan 2025 and Philippines-France Relations
The Philippine Madrigal Singers deliver a spectacular performance at their concert in the American Cathedral in Paris for the 127th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine independence and 78 years of Philippines-France diplomatic relations.
PARIS 25 June 2025 — In celebration of the 127th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine independence and 78 years of Philippines-France diplomatic relations, the Philippine Embassy successfully held a concert by the Philippine Madrigal Singers in Paris on 20 June 2025 at the historical American Cathedral in Paris.
The event underscored Filipino identity and friendship with France as the Philippines’ multi-awarded and internationally acclaimed choral group delivered their powerful rendition of Filipino and French classics.
Delivered in two parts, their heartwarming performance includes “Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika” and “Paraiso” by National Artist Ryan Cayabyab, Kundiman songs like “Gaano Ko Ikaw Kamahal” and “Nahan” by National Artists Ernani Cuenco and Levi Celerio, “Comme d’Habitude” by Claude François popularized by Frank Sinatra (My Way), and Dalida’s “Fini, la Comedie”. The Madz also delivered their range of international repertoire which included an Indian song medley and “Circle of Life”, a Disney classic.
The well-attended concert welcomed more than 300 guests from the diplomatic corps, the French government, non-government organizations, corporate partners, and members of the Filipino, French, and the global communities. In awe of the magnificent musical performance, the audience erupted in applause with minutes of standing ovation, requesting for more.
Chargé d’Affaires Eric Gerardo Tamayo stressed the importance of honoring our forebears as we celebrate our identity and look forward to the future in his welcome remarks. He also highlighted the Embassy’s continuing efforts and enduring commitment to further strengthen the Philippines’ ties with France with programs that cut across political, economic, cultural, and people-to-people relations.
After the concert, guests enjoyed refreshments featuring Philippine-themed cocktails and canapés like mini adobo tacos, longganisa in a blanket, mini chicken inasal, ube choux, mango tarts and macaroons featuring classic Philippine flavors like calamansi, durian, and mango, among others. END
