PH Embassy in Cambodia commemorates 125th anniversary of Rizal’s martyrdom
PHNOM PENH, 03 January 2022 – In observance of the 125th anniversary of the martyrdom of Gat Jose Rizal, the Philippine Embassy in Cambodia and Sentro Rizal Phnom Penh celebrated his life in simple ceremonies and a floral offering at his bust in the Embassy grounds on 30 December 2021.
Witnessing the ceremony were representatives from the Samahan ng mga Pilipino sa Cambodia (SAMAPI), Teachers Learning Action Guild in Cambodia (TLAGC), and Cordillerans in Cambodia (CiC).
In her remarks, Philippine Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. to Cambodia Emma R. Sarne, extolled the virtues of the national hero and underscored the inspiring life, works and heroism of Dr. Jose P. Rizal. She also encouraged overseas Filipinos to perform little acts of heroism by reaching out to our countrymen in most need, particularly amidst the pandemic and the recent typhoon that severely affected parts of the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
The ceremony was followed by a simple fellowship breakfast of pan de sal at kape. END
