PH Embassy in Iran commemorates 125th anniversary of Rizal’s martyrdom

TEHRAN 03 January 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Iran commemorated the 125th Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal through a short program featuring a recitation of the national hero’s poem, “Sa Kabataang Pilipino” by Filipino youths Moises Reyes and Armand Christopher Hamzeh, at the Embassy grounds on 30 December 2021.

The program also highlighted the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, a wreath-offering ceremony led by Charge d’ Affaires, a.i. Hannah Eloisse V. Go and CDA Go’s reading of the Rizal Day Message of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The simple activity was capped with a Filipino breakfast.

 “Sa Kabataang Pilipino,” originally “A la javentud Filipina'' in Spanish, was written by the National Hero when he was 18 years old. Dr. Rizal is said to have dedicated the poem to the Filipino youth whom he described as “the fair hope of my motherland.” END
