NAIROBI, 04 January 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Kenya, led by Chargé d’affaires, ad interim Maria Rosanna Josue, commemorated the 125th anniversary of the patriotism and martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal through a simple ceremony held at the Chancery lobby on 29 December 2021.

This year’s theme, “Rizal: For Science, Truth, and Life” highlights Rizal’s notable scientific contributions, his writings which exposed the evils of the Spanish colonial administration and the ills of the Philippine society during his time, and how his death further ignited a sense of nationalism and revolution among his countrymen.

CDA Josue, in her message, honored Rizal’s sacrifices and legacy which remain relevant to this day and continue to inspire the Filipino people to unceasingly love their country and protect its freedom, aspire for excellence, and have the courage to face all the challenges that may come.

A simple Filipino lunch was then served to Embassy personnel, while the movie Jose Rizal was being shown. END
