PH Embassy in Canada observes Rizal Day

The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa commemorated the 125th anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal in a simple ceremony on 29 December 2021 at Sentro Rizal Ottawa led by Amb. Rodolfo D. Robles.

OTTAWA, 05 January 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa commemorated the 125th anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal in a simple ceremony on 29 December 2021 at Sentro Rizal Ottawa led by Amb. Rodolfo D. Robles.

“We are aware of Rizal’s accomplishments, not least of them his novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, the spark that ignited the flames of Filipino nationalism and the Philippine Revolution that created our country,” Philippine Ambassador to Canada Rodolfo D. Robles remarked during the ceremony. “Rizal inspires us to live a life of learning and doing to make a positive change in our community.”

In compliance with public health restrictions, the event was attended only by personnel of the Philippine Embassy, some of whom are members of the Gatineau Chapter of the Knights of Rizal. END.
