PH Embassy in Argentina commemorates 125th anniversary of Rizal’s martyrdom

BUENOS AIRES, 07 January 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Argentina commemorated the 125th Anniversary of Martyrdom of Philippine National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal on 31 December 2021 by conducting a wreath-laying ceremony at the bust of Dr. Jose Rizal, located at the Paseo de la Republica de Filipinas, Belgrano, Buenos Aires.
Following the wreath-laying ceremony, a program was held at the Embassy Chancery, during which Consul Jason Jovencio A. Anasarias read the message of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for the occasion, reminding all Filipinos to honor the modern-day heroes who work at the frontlines during the pandemic.
This was followed by a 45-minute viewing of the documentary film, “Rizal’s Pen,” which is about a young man in contemporary times discovering the relevance of Dr. Rizal’s writings in his life.
The Embassy served a traditional Filipino breakfast, which the participants of the event partook in.
Consul Anasarias also officially opened the Sentro Rizal of the Embassy to the Filipino community, with the Rizal commemorative event being the first one conducted in the new Embassy Chancery. END
