PH Embassy in Manama Commemorates the 126th Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal

MANAMA 04 January 2022 – The Philippine Embassy and Sentro Rizal in Manama, in cooperation with the Knights of Rizal - Bahrain Chapter, joined the Filipino nation in commemorating the 126th Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal on 30 December 2020, through a wreath-laying ceremony at the Palmyra Hall of the Ramee Grand Hotel in Seef, Bahrain.
The wreath-laying ceremony was led by Philippine Chargé d’ Affaires, a.i. to Bahrain Anne Jalando-on Louis and Dr. Zhane Thirwall, KGCR, Regional Commander of the Knights of Rizal, Middle East and Africa Region, together with the officers and members of the Knights of Rizal Bahrain Chapter led by Chapter Commander Emmanuel Morales. Consul Bryan Jess Baguio, Vice Consul Laser Blitz Sumagaysay, Capt. Mateo Carido, Welfare Officer Redina Manlapaz, Ms. Celia Cabadonga of POLO, and several Embassy staff also joined the ceremony.
The Philippine School Bahrain Chorale rendered performances during the program, including the song “Canto Patriotico de Maria Clara”.
Consul Baguio introduced the video, entitled, “Sentro Rizal - Awit ng Biyahero,” a curated material of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, which was shown during the program.
The Wika Toastmasters Club led a Table Topics discussion on the life and works of Dr. Rizal with the participation of a Knights of Rizal member, a PSB student, and a teacher.
In her message at the event, CDA Louis invited the Knights of Rizal Bahrain Chapter to work with the Embassy on a project to augment the Rizaliana collection of Sentro Rizal Manama. END
