PH Consulate General in Chongqing Inaugurates Dr. Jose Rizal Bust to mark Rizal Day

CHONGQING, 05 January 2023 – With the theme “Rizal: Preserved Memories Treasured Today by the Nation” (Rizal: Alaalang Iningatan, Yaman Ngayon ng Bayan), the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing commemorated this year’s Rizal Day with the inauguration of its recently acquired Dr. Jose Rizal bust inside the consular premises on 30 December 2022. The ceremony was attended by all personnel of the Consulate General.

Vice Consul Adrian G. Miras read the message of Secretary for Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo followed by his remarks on the day’s commemoration.

Mr. Miras emphasized the importance of living up to the values exemplified by Dr. Jose Rizal as the Consulate General carries out its mission of promoting Philippine interests in its jurisdiction. “I urge everyone to take to heart our mission and responsibility here in Chongqing and consider Rizal’s values of patriotism, courage, and compassion as our ‘north star’ to help us navigate the challenges of our foreign service assignment,” he remarked. END
