PH Embassy in Vienna Commemorates 126th Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal

VIENNA, 06 January 2023 – The Philippine Embassy in Vienna held a flag raising and wreath laying ceremony on 29 December 2022 in commemoration of the 126th anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal, with the theme "Rizal: Alaalang Iningatan, Yaman Ngayon ng Bayan."

As part of the commemoration, the Embassy screened the film “Jose Rizal: Sa Landas ng Paglaya”, a documentary by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, which dissects the life of Rizal as a son, brother, student, writer, and agent of social change. 

Also included in the program was the reading of excerpts of Rizal's poems by First Secretary and Consul Mr. Bolivar Bao, a member of the Knights of Rizal, and the presentation of Sentro Rizal's poetry reading of Canto del Viajero (Awit ng Biyahero), featuring representatives from Sentro Rizal Centers around the world.
