PH Embassy in Amman Commemorates Rizal Day 2022
AMMAN 06 January 2023 — The Philippine Embassy in Jordan joined the nation in celebrating the 126th Anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal with Filipino community leaders in a wreath-laying ceremony led by Ambassador Wilfredo C. Santos on 30 December 202 at the Bayanihan Hall of the Philippine Embassy.
This year’s theme is “Rizal: Alaalang Iningatan, Yaman Ngayon ng Bayan”. Ambassador Santos welcomed the guests to the event, and read the message of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. in honor of the occasion where he encouraged the nation to embody the virtues of excellence, patriotism, and perseverance which the revered hero exhibited throughout his life.
Third Secretary and Vice Consul Angeli Payumo followed by reading the message of the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Enrique A. Manalo.
To honor the life and works of Dr. Jose Rizal, Third Secretary and Vice Consul Sheila Marie Andales read selected stanzas of Rizal’s poem, “Mi Ultimo Adios” in Tagalog as translated by Gat Andres Bonifacio. As a finale, the Embassy played a special poetry reading video of Canto del Viajero (Awit ng Biyahero) featuring representatives from different Sentros Rizal around the world which was produced by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
