PH Embassy in Beirut Celebrates 126th Rizal Day

BEIRUT 09 January 2023 — The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon commemorated the 126th anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal on 30 December 2022 at the chancery.
The program, which started with a flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony at the Embassy, included reading of Dr. Jose Rizal’s literary works: Kundiman, Kay Birheng Maria, and Sa Kabataang Pilipino.
Messages from the Secretary for Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo and Philippine Ambassador to Lebanon Raymond R. Balatbat were read by Vice Consul Glaiza M. Quarteros. In their messages both Secretary Manalo and Ambassador Balatbat reminded everyone of Rizal’s sacrifices in uplifting the lives of the Filipino people.
With the theme of this year’s celebration, “Alaalang Iningatan, Yaman Ngayon ng Bayan”, Dr. Jose Rizal left us with memories that are to be treasured: lessons from the past that continue to inspire us in the present as we strive to serve the Filipino people wherever we are. END
