PH Embassy in Indonesia Commemorates 128th Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal

JAKARTA 08 January 2025 – The Philippine Embassy in Jakarta commemorated the 128th anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony led by Charge d’Affaires Glenn Joseph D. Teh. The event honored the life and legacy of Dr. Rizal, whose unwavering commitment to justice, liberty, and national independence continues to inspire Filipinos worldwide.

Following the wreath-laying ceremony, Embassy personnel screened Finding Rizal in a Time of Barriers, a 2021 full-length documentary film that explores Dr. Rizal’s time in Europe. The documentary, a project of Senator Loren Legarda in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs, sheds light on the personal and intellectual journey of the national hero during his stay in Europe, where he penned some of his most important works.

The event served as a reminder of the significant contributions of Dr. Rizal in the fight for the Filipino people's rights and freedoms, and reaffirms the commitment of the Embassy to continue honoring his ideals of patriotism, education, and human dignity.
