PHL Embassy in Doha Celebrates 2018 International Women’s Month

13 March 2018 DOHA – The Philippine Embassy in Doha celebrated International Women’s Month on March 08 to 09 with the provision of a special consular lane for women availing of consular services and a fun run for the community at the Museum of Islamic Art Park.

The Embassy on March 08 provided a special lane for women applicants and by distributing simple tokens of appreciation to the first 100 women applicants as a way of celebrating their contribution to nation-building and in breaking the barriers of inequality.

On March 09, the Embassy also organized, together with the Filipino International Triathletes Qatar (FITQ) and Association of Nursing Service Administrators of the Philipines Inc. (ANSAP) -Qatar, the second year of the 3K Women’s Month Fun Run at the Museum of Islamic Art Park. Approximately 300 participants, both men and women, joined in the event which also serves to promote health and fitness as a way of life.

As part of its Gender and Development (GAD) program, the Embassy supports the global celebration, which originated in 1975 when the United Nations officially declared the 8th of March every year as International Women’s Day. END

Approximately 300 participants mostly members of the medical organizations and professional runners also joined in the fun run.
