PHL Consulate General in Dubai Commemorates International Women’s Day

13 March 2018 DUBAI – The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai commemorated International Women’s Month on March 08 at the Consulate’s Rizal Hall. Some 100 community members and leaders participated in this forum which featured resource persons who spoke Women Empowerment and Professional Image Branding and Etiquette.
Ms. Jijie Zablan and Cherry Pye Torres, two of Dubai’s most sough-after speakers, presided over a 2-hour forum where they spoke on various women’s issues such as women’s rights, equality, personal etiquette and professional branding.
Dr Yasmin B Cortes, spouse of the undersigned and Chair of the Filipino Ladies of Dubai, spearheaded the commemoration as part of the Consulate’s Gender and Development and Cultural Diplomacy activities. The Consulate and the Filipino Ladies of Dubai organizes monthly events that highlight women and children’s rights and issues, and Philippine culture as part of the Consulate’s endeavors to strengthen the Filipino diaspora in Dubai and the Northern Emirates through an empowered citizenry that is proud of their heritage and one that is confident to face head-on the challenges of a global 21-st century.
Among the Filipino Ladies of Dubai’s projects include the quarterly painting/photography exhibits at the Consulate, Film Making Workshop with the Filipino Students of Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Inter School Debate Competition, Dubai Dubai Musikahan 1 and 2, and participation in the many cultural events of the Dubai Government.
