PHL Embassy in Rome Organizes Cine Juana sa Embahada

Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo Nolasco underscores the big contribution of women to the society during the Cine Juana sa Embahada at the Embassy’s Multi-purpose hall on 15 March 2018.

 

19 March 2018 ROME – The Philippine Embassy in Rome, in cooperation with the Film Development Center of the Philippines (FDCP), organized Cine Juana sa Embahada at the Chancery’s Multi-purpose Hall on 15 March. More than thirty (30) members of the Filipino community attended the event.

The Cine Juana sa Embahada featured Jose Javier Reyes’ film Ano ang Kulay ng mga Nakalimutang Pangarap? The film follows the life of Teresa, a nanny who has dedicated sixty years of service to a middle class family, sacrificing her own happiness and fulfillment.

In his remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo Nolasco, expressed hope that through the film the audience could heighten their awareness on the plight of women through a careful look on the issues of old age, diaspora, and caregiving. “The film encourages us to reflect on the difficulties and challenges of old age and the invaluable role of household helpers and caregivers,” he said.

Ambassador Nolasco highlighted the great contributions of women in their society and communities. He called on the members of the Filipino community to step up and contribute towards gender equality and women empowerment.

The screening of the film was made possible through the FDCP’s Philippine Embassies Assistance Program. The Cine Juana sa Embahada was part of the Embassy’s activities in celebration of the National Women’s Month. END
