PHL Embassy in Jakarta Conducts Talk on Local Labor and Immigration Regulations to Celebrate Women’s Month

23 March 2018 JAKARTA – The Philippine Embassy in Jakarta organized an “Orientation Talk on Basic Indonesian Labor and Immigration Regulations concerning Foreign Workers” at the Embassy’s Multipurpose Hall on March 17 in celebration of the National Women’s Month.
In her opening remarks, First Secretary and Consul General Shirlene Mananquil underscored that the lecture aims to empower overseas Filipino workers in Indonesia by equipping them with sufficient knowledge on matters that affect their stay in the country as foreign workers.
Officials from the Indonesia’s Ministry of Manpower (MoM) and Directorate General of Immigration were invited to serve as resource persons during the two-hour lecture.
Mr. Ali Chaidar, who heads the Section for Work Permit for Services Sector at MoM’s Directorate of Foreign Worker Utilization, discussed the legal basis, requirements, and procedure of securing the approval of the Ministry of Manpower on the employment of foreign workers in Indonesia.
The presentation of Mr. Setyaji, who heads the Temporary/Limited Stay Permit Section, focused on the process of the issuance of appropriate visas and permits to foreign workers in Indonesia, once their application has been approved by the Ministry of Manpower.
Members of the audience were given an opportunity to ask questions or convey their concerns during the open forum which followed the presentation of the two speakers.
The talk was attended by around 50 members of the Filipino community in Jakarta and Philippine Embassy personnel. END
