PHL Embassy in Egypt Holds Career Talk for National Women’s Month

26 March 2018 CAIRO – The Philippine Embassy in Cairo, Egypt organized an event entitled “Preparing Young Women for Success in the Workforce: A Career Talk” to mark National Women’s Month.

Ms. Shaimaa Fahmy El Kholy, a seasoned human resources professional in Egypt, shared tips on the hurdling various stages of the job application process, from writing resumés to handling job interviews. She emphasized the need to maintain a positive image of oneself throughout the recruitment process to stand out from other jobseekers.

Working Filipinas in Egypt were also invited to share their experiences following non-traditional paths to their employment. Speakers Ms. Jennifer Hababag, a marketing consultant and part-time yoga instructor, and Ms. Fauziah Obesa, a schoolteacher who sidelines as a dressmaker, agreed that pursuing formal education and nurturing passions are equally vital in achieving success.

The career talk is part of the Embassy’s continuing Gender and Development (GAD) advocacy and is in line with the theme for the 2018 National Women’s Month celebration, “We Make Change Work for Women”. END
