27 July 2016 - Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco, accepted the rotating chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Rome (ACR) from Myanmar Ambassador Myint Naung during a hand-over ceremony held at the Embassy of Myanmar on July 22.

Ambassador Domingo welcomed the chairmanship and expressed optimism that with the support and cooperation of the ACR members, the Philippines will be able to undertake a fruitful ACR chairmanship and raise the profile of the ASEAN community in Italy. 

The ASEAN Committee in Rome, founded in 2011, is composed of the ASEAN members with Embassies in Rome such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

The Philippine Embassy in Rome will chair the Committee from July to December 2016.
