BERGAMO

27 July 2016 — More than 190 overseas Filipinos availed of the mobile consular services such as passport renewals spearheaded by the Philippine Consulate General in Milan in the cities of Brescia and Bergamo in the Lombardy region in Italy on July 23 and 24, respectively.

Consul Conrado Demdem, Jr.  led and supervised the two-day consular outreach.

Consul Demem met with the leaders of the Filipino Communities in Brescia and Bergamo during the said activity.

He discussed the important role Filipino organizations play in providing support not only to fellow overseas Filipinos in their areas, but also to their compatriots back in the Philippines.

Consul Demdem encouraged Filipino community leaders to pursue educational projects geared towards the Filipino youth and those interested in starting business in the Philippines.

Attached offices such as the Social Security System (SSS) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) participated in the mobile consular outreach to provide their respective services to kababayans.

There are more than 2,000 overseas Filipinos in Brescia and about 1,000 Filipinos in Bergamo. Most of them work in households, factories, and warehouse facilities. END
