28 July 2016 – The Philippine Embassy in South Korea conducted its two-day consular outreach mission on July 22 and 23 in the city of Busan, the secondlargest city in South Korea after Seoul.
The consular mission, the second for the year, was conducted at the Philippine Consulate General located in the city’s north central Gumjeong District in coordination with the Philippine Honorary Consul General, Dr. An Sang-wook. Apart from the community in Busan, Filipinos living in nearby Gimhae, Ulsan and Geoje also took advantage of the visiting mobile service.
The seven-member consular team, which was led by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Ella Karina R. Mitra, tallied 322 cases of passport applications, civil registration, notarization, travel documents, NBI clearances, and certification during the two-day outreach.
Busan, which is 325 kilometers south of Seoul, is home to 2,124 Filipinos.
The Philippine Consulate General, which opened its doors to the public in March 2016, is located on the third floor of 1927 Jungang Avenue in Guseo-dong of Geumjeong District. While it cannot process the above services, Honorary Consul General An is authorized to issue visas, authenticate Korean documents, certify driver’s licenses, among others. END
