28 July 2016 – The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi participated in the Filipino community’s Appreciation Night held on July 22 at the Le Meridien Hotel, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The event was organized by the Bayanihan Council, the umbrella organization of all Filipino groups and associations accredited to the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, in expression of gratitude to those who made possible the 118th Philippine Independence Day celebration (PIDC) of the Filipino community held last June 03 at the Dalma Mall, Mussafah, Abu Dhabi.
Bayanihan Chairman Engr. Jeffrey Uy delivered the Welcome Address and thanked the Philippine Embassy, Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Social Welfare Attaché, Social Security System (SSS), and Pag-IBIG, sponsors, Filipino organizations, and working committees behind the success of the 118th PIDC. He concluded his speech for all to ponder with words from Albert Einstein, “Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value.”
In his remarks, Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Constancio R. Vingno, Jr. thanked and congratulated all those involved for the help and cooperation, and for making the event a big success. He shared that he and his family feels very special in the company of Filipinos in the UAE. “The community, as a whole, is not only about doing an event. It’s about building friendship and being together as Filipinos in a foreign land,” he said.
Plaques and Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to sponsors, Filipino organizations and working committees who contributed to the successful conduct of the 118th PIDC of the Filipino community in Abu Dhabi.
Intermission numbers were presented by the Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-aawit at Mananayaw sa Abu Dhabi (OPMMAD) and the Bayanihan Executive Committee, and special prizes were given away to the delight of the crowd. Mr. Tavvi Jumuad and Ms. Emilie Pangilinan were chosen as Mr. & Ms. Face of the Night at the Bohemian-themed event.
Engr. Blesil Apduhan delivered the Closing Remarks on behalf of Dr. Eldino Caballes, Chairman of the 118th PIDC Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Bayanihan Council. Ms. Gay Marie Jumuad, Chair of the Appreciation Night, also delivered her message. END
