28 July 2016 – The Philippine Embassy in Rome conducted a consular outreach mission in Florence on July 23. The consular outreach was initiated by the Philippine Embassy in Rome in partnership with the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Florence in response to the request of the Filipino community in the area.
Eighteen (18) former Filipino nationals took their oath of allegiance to the Republic of the Philippines in the city of Florence during the consular outreach in the area in the biggest single oath taking event for the reacquisition of Philippine citizenship administered by the Philippine Embassy in Rome recently.
Some 520 Filipino nationals availed of the consular services: 441 applications for renewal of passport, 27 cases of Reports of Birth, 87 membership applications for Social Security System, and 52 membership applications in the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
Florence is a key city of the region of Tuscany, home to about 21,512 Filipinos representing 12.6 percent of the total number of Filipino community (171,000) in Italy. END
