01 August 2016 — The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam participated in the ASEAN Mini Concert titled “We are One” on 23 July 2016, from 8:15pm to 10:45pm at the capital Bandar Seri Begawan. The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and was held in conjunction with the 70th birthday celebration of His Majesty.
Performers from the Filipino Community rendered traditional cultural performances, such as Malong Dance, Tinikling, Maglalatik, and Bakya Dance. A Filipina contributed an Original Pilipino Music (OPM) song titled “Isang Mundo, Isang Awit” to the delight of the audience.
Other ASEAN Embassies also provided traditional cultural performances representing their respective countries.
The Embassy tapped from the Filipino Community a pool of performers for the events that required performances. This is one area where the Embassy and the Community demonstrates collaborative partnership. END
